According to MRE, the General Manager will primarily oversee the overall personnel management, as well as several newly secured overseas projects.

Smith has over 15 years of chartering and operational management experience from working in the breakbulk and dry cargo sectors, the company said, adding that his leadership skills and marine industry experience will be a valuable addition.

Toby Mead, MRE’s Operations Director, said: “Several of our team have been fortunate enough to have worked with Brett in the past and we know the quality and calibre that he’ll bring to the business; as we continue to build the company his experience will be invaluable.”

The UK-based company recently worked on the Galloper offshore wind farm, commissioned this March, where it deployed its vessel Manor Venture as part of a contract to provide a temporary power solution during the wind farm’s turbine installation and commissioning.

MRE’s latest offshore wind engagement includes the supply of temporary power, personnel and a multi-purpose vessel to GE Renewable Energy for the Merkur offshore wind farm.
