The projects are one of the largest programs in Siemens Gamesa’s offshore history, the turbine maker said.

South Fork is expected to be one of the first offshore projects built in the US when it becomes operational in 2023.

”We are proud to be at the forefront of the wind industry as we endeavor to support the growing green energy movement in the US. The chartering of this vessel is a significant step in establishing the wind industry’s presence in the United States’ renewables market, and we look forward to watching this grow as the green transition continues,” Siemens Gamesa said in a social media post.

The wind turbines at the Revolution Wind will be installed by Dominion Energy’s wind turbine installation newbuild vessel Charybdis.
