DNV to Certify Baltica 2 Components

Supply Chain

PGE and Ørsted have signed a contract with DNV for certification of components of the Baltica 2, which is the first stage of the Baltica 2 Offshore Wind Farm in Poland.

The scope of work for DNV on Baltica 2 includes providing a design compliance certificate confirming the compliance of the technical designs with international standards for the design of offshore wind farms and their consistency with the construction design and applicable regulations.

The certification applies to wind turbine generators, offshore substations, foundations, as well as inter-array and export cables.

“This year, we have already finalized the contracting of all elements for the maritime part of the Baltica 2 project, which is scheduled to be commissioned in 2027. The next step was the selection of a company to certify the project, including design compliance and admission to operation,” said Wojciech Dąbrowski, President of the Management Board of PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna.

The contract follows DNV being authorised by the Polish Ministry of Infrastructure to certify offshore wind farms.

Baltica 2 is one of two stages of the Baltica Offshore Wind Farm – next to Baltica 3.
