Energinet Issues Thor Environmental Study Call

Energinet has issued a tender seeking a consultant to provide a strategic environmental assessment (SEA) for the Thor offshore wind farm in Denmark.

Danish Energy Agency

The work will include a number of surveys to be carried out, as well as technical reports of specific environmental and other themes, for the construction, operation and decommissioning phases of the project.

Additionally, technical reports should address potential cumulative and transboundary impacts, proposals for measures to mitigate adverse impacts, analysis of data gaps and uncertainties of relevance for the assessments and proposals for monitoring programs,

Surveys and reports are primarily meant as background reports for the later environmental impact assessment (EIA) of the project to be decided by the future concession owner.

The duration of the contract is two years, with no options for renewal. The deadline for submitting applications is 17 July by 12:00 local time.

Thor is the first of three 800MW offshore wind farms to be constructed in Danish waters before 2030, with an option for the developer to boost the wind farm’s capacity to up to 1,000MW.

The project will be built off Nissum Fjord in the North Sea and is expected to feature 13-15MW turbines set to be operational between 2024 and 2027. Energinet recently commenced the feasibility studies for the wind farm.
