Tacke CEO of Siemens Gamesa, Hannibal CEO of Offshore Operations

At a meeting held on 8 May, the Board of Directors of Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy appointed Markus Tacke as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) with Michael Hannibal, previously CEO of the offshore division at Siemens Wind Power, now CEO of Siemens Gamesa’s offshore business.

Tacke succeeds Ignacio Martín, who in April announced to the Board his desire to step down once the merger had been completed and integration efforts were successfully underway.

As of April, Martín continued as CEO of the combined company for the transition phase before handing over to the next management generation. At the time, the Board of Directors appointed Markus Tacke, previously CEO of Siemens Wind Power, to head the united company’s Offshore business.

“I am honored that the Board has entrusted me with the responsibility of serving as CEO,” Tacke said. “We are already a leader in the renewable energy marketplace, but we have much work ahead of us. Our priorities are clear: delivering on our projects, winning new business and creating a company culture focused on engineering excellence and vigorous cost management. This will enable us to provide benefits to our customers and our many stakeholders.”

Other members of the company’s senior management team were announced in April. This team will remain in place: Andrew Hall, Chief Financial Officer; Xabier Etxeberria, CEO Onshore; Mark Albenze, CEO Service; David Mesonero, Corporate Development, Strategy and Integration Managing Director.
