Baltica Offshore Wind Farm Moves Forward

PGE and Ørsted were granted decisions by the President of the Energy Regulatory Office (ERO) on individual prices in contracts for difference (CfD) for both stages of the 2.5 GW Baltica offshore wind farm, namely Baltica 2 and Baltica 3.

The individual price in the CfD for both stages of the Baltica offshore wind farm was set at the maximum strike price of PLN 319.60/MWh (EUR 67.93).

The Baltica 2+3 Offshore Wind Farm has already obtained the environmental decision for the offshore wind farm in January 2020. In addition, the project has obtained the location decisions (PSC) and the connection agreements to the transmission network with the operator (PSE), permits for laying and maintenance of cables (PUUK), and has been granted the right to CfD.

Project partners have started work on obtaining building permits, which are the last permits required before making the final investment decision.

“The decisions of the President of the Energy Regulatory Office to grant support for Baltica 2 and Baltica 3 will be one of the key factors for making the final investment decision regarding the construction of the Baltica Offshore Wind Farm”, said Wojciech Dąbrowski, President of the Management Board of PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna.

The Baltica 3 wind farm will have an installed capacity of 1,045 MW. The wind farm is scheduled to be commissioned in 2026, and the closing of financing for this investment is planned for 2023.

The 1,498 MW Baltica 2 wind farm is slated for commissioning in 2027, and the closing of financing for this investment is planned for 2024.
