Palfinger Marine will deliver 64 PF14000-4.0 fixed boom cranes for the wind turbine platforms and two PTM600 jetty cranes to the offshore wind project.

The units in the port of Caen-Ouistreham, Normandy, which is the operations and maintenance (O&M) base for the wind farm, are scheduled for delivery by the end of 2022.

Additionally, the company is providing two PTM600 units, which are already prepared for operation, to the 480 MW Saint-Nazaire and the 500 MW Fécamp offshore wind projects, respectively.

A year and a half ago, Palfinger Marine secured its first offshore wind farm deal in France. Since then, the Austrian company has received three more deals to deliver six jetty cranes and fixed boom cranes for the French renewables industry.

“We are proud that we strengthened our footprint in the French offshore wind industry, since we entered the market only one and a half years ago. This shows us that we can meet our clients’ needs all over the world – no matter the circumstances”, said Iavor Martchev Markov, Global Sales Manager Wind at Palfinger.

The Calvados offshore wind farm will feature 64 Siemens Gamesa 7 MW wind turbines located more than 10 kilometres from the Bessin coastline and cover a total surface area of approximately 45 square kilometres.

Once fully commissioned in 2024, Calvados will generate the equivalent of the annual electricity consumption of 630,000 people, or over 90 per cent of the Calvados French department’s population.
