C-bed and MHI Vestas have commenced a multiple offshore wind farm upgrade campaign at four European projects.
The project includes the upgrading of turbines at the Burbo Bank Extension and Walney Extension projects in the UK, Borkum Riffgrund 2 in Germany and Norther in Belgium.
C-bed’s DP2 walk-to-work vessel Wind Innovation has been deployed at Burbo Bank Extension since the end of February for the initiating part of the campaign.
The vessel will then head off to Germany, Belgium and back to UK waters.
C-bed is acting as the project base camp for the upgrade. This is said to entail the use of both Liverpool and Eemshaven for the loading of supplies and crew change.
According to the company, the project also requires special care in terms of bridging indispensable project parts such as HSE documentation, orchestrating logistics across multiple base ports, bracket design challenges, blade strike analysis and gangway height flexibility.
