NIWE Extends Gujarat Geotechnical Survey Tender Deadline

India’s National Institute of Wind Energy (NIWE) has extended the closing date of the tender for geotechnical investigation in the Gulf of Khambhat off the coast of Gujarat.

The deadline for the submission of applications was initially scheduled for 12 September and has been rescheduled for 26 September at 3:30 p.m. local time.

NIWE also included a new addition in the tender, which states that the bidders may participate by forming a consortium or joint venture. Those who decide to do so are responsible to provide a legal document or agreement.

The awarded bidder will be in charge of drilling three boreholes in a 400km2 area around the location of the country’s first offshore LiDAR, as well as making two boreholes at two proposed LiDAR locations.

In addition, the contractor will be in charge of carrying out soil investigation at the sites in order to learn the nature and properties of soil at recommended depths for the design of offshore wind foundations.

To remind, NIWE invited expressions of interest for the development of a 1GW commercial offshore wind farm off the coast of Gujarat in April and has recently issued a list of 35 interested companies.
