Navigant today reported it had acquired Dutch consultancy Ecofys. According to Navigant, the acquisition further strengthens and expands its position in the global energy consultancy market.
“Ecofys has a strong reputation as a premier provider of energy consulting services,” said Jan Vrins, managing director and leader of Navigant’s Energy segment. “The addition of Ecofys strengthens Navigant’s energy solutions to our clients, creating robust capabilities for governments, utility companies, industry, and new entrants to effectively respond to and capitalize on the global transformation within the energy sector.”
Formerly a wholly-owned subsidiary of Eneco, Ecofys’ work has led to prestigious honors, including the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize for contributions on the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, and the 2008 Erasmus Innovation Award, Navigant pointed out.
“We live in a world of rapidly changing energy demand and supply against a background of significant climate-related and economic challenges,” said Thijs Aarten, CEO and managing director of Ecofys. “Together with Navigant, our deep, combined expertise in strategy and implementation will enable our clients to adapt to the ongoing energy and climate transition.”
Jeroen de Haas, CEO of Eneco Group added: “I’m pleased with the acquisition of Ecofys by Navigant. Ecofys has been part of Eneco Group since 2009 and has grown into an internationally acknowledged energy and sustainability consultancy. Ecofys has delivered value to Eneco and I am confident that with Navigant, it will continue to thrive.”
