VolkerInfra Nabs First Siemens Gig

Lancashire-based VolkerInfra has been awarded its first contract with Siemens Energy which will see the company work on the Dudgeon Offshore Wind Farm.

The company will install extra high voltage cables required to connect the onshore substation to the wind farm which is off the Norfolk coast.

VolkerInfra will be responsible for the in-house design, procurement, installation, jointing and testing for a total of six 132kV and twenty eight 33kV circuits. Worth more than GBP 2 million, the work begins next month and will end in October 2016.

Jonathon Humphries, managing director of VolkerInfra, said: “The project was won at competitive tender and marks our first contract awarded from Siemens which is fantastic news. The business is going from strength to strength and working as a contractor to a company like Siemens is yet another successful milestone for us. Hopefully this will be the first of many projects with them.”

Dudgeon Offshore Wind Farm will produce enough ‘green’ electricity to power more than 410,000 UK homes each year.
