Dutch-based Delta Lloyd is one of the insurance companies that will insure the construction and the first three years of operation of the Gemini offshore wind farm in the Dutch part of the North Sea.
The Gemini wind farm is one of the largest offshore wind farms to be constructed. It is expected to be operational in 2017.
Maarten Mulder from Delta Lloyd said: “We are pleased to contribute delivering this prestigious project in homeland. It is by far the largest renewable energy project ever conducted in the Netherlands.”
With the addition of Gemini to the portfolio, Delta Lloyd is involved in the insurance of 26 offshore wind farms in Western Europe, which is enough to supply approximately 6.5 million European households with electricity. In addition to the construction of wind farms, Delta Lloyd also provides insurance for their operational phase.
