UK Doing Everything to Bring Siemens to Hull

Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg said that the UK Government is doing everything in their power to convince Siemens to advance with its proposal for the Hull facility, reports the Hull Daily Mail.

During his visit to North East Lincolnshire, Clegg said: “We are working flat out to seek to persuade Siemens to say yes.“

He further added that he had been going to Germany personally to convince Siemens to come to the UK.

Three years ago Siemens signed a memorandum of agreement, pledging to bring a new offshore wind turbine assembly plant to the UK. The company hoped to have the factory up and running by 2014.

Siemens has selected Hull as its preferred site, but it has yet to make a decision on the GBP 80 million investment into the turbine factory.
