UK: Barge Arrives for Hull Wind Farm

After the Siemens’ contract with Associated British Ports (ABP) to construct a wind turbine factory, a barge has arrived in Hull, the ITV News reports.

It is anchored at the Albert Dock terminal in the Humber Estuary and its purpose is to transport parts for a new wind farm.

Earlier this month, Hull City Council approved Associated British Ports and Siemens’ planning application for the Green Port Hull facility.

The Green Port Hull involves the regeneration of Alexandra Dock port complex, which is bordering with a natural deep-water channel. The development will comprise of a wind turbine factory along with component storage areas. Besides offices and car parking, a new 600meters riverside compartment will be constructed for the wind turbine components export.

The site is scheduled to be opened and operational by 2014.
