SG 11.0-200 DD Turbine Model Secures Full Type Certificate Early

Technology

Siemens Gamesa has secured a Full Type Certificate for the SG 11.0-200 DD wind turbine model from TÜV NORD one year ahead of time, the turbine manufacturer said.

“This is really a demonstration of how great technology and a true collaboration spirit within our development team can bring amazing results,” said Rasmus Haugaard, Senior Product Manager.

The SG 11.0-200 DD offshore wind turbine features 97-metre Siemens Gamesa B97 IntegralBlades and a 200-metre diameter rotor.

The unit’s 200-metre diameter rotor provides an increase of nine per cent in Annual Energy Production compared to the SG 10.0-193 DD model, Siemens Gamesa said.

The SG 11.0-200 DD will spin on Vattenfall’s 1.5 GW Hollandse Kust Zuid wind farm off the Netherlands, Ørsted’s 900 MW Borkum Riffgrund 3 and the 242 MW Gode Wind 3 projects in the German North Sea, and Shell and Eneco’s 759 MW Hollandse Kust (noord) wind farm in the Dutch North Sea.

The serial production of this model is scheduled to start in 2022.

TÜV NORD will also certify Siemens Gamesa’s flagship model, the SG 14-222 DD.
