All TPC Changhua Phase 1 Pin Piles Arrive in Taiwan
Express Offshore Solutions (EOS) and Hung Hua Construction (HHC) have completed the transportation of all pin piles for Taiwan Power Company’s Changhua Phase 1 offshore wind project.
The parties transported 80 pin piles from South Korea to the project site and four pin piles from Ming Rong Yuan Business in Kaohsiung, Taiwan.
The scope also included the design and fabrication of grillage, integrated lifting tools, and other barge modifications required for the transport.
According to the companies, the majority of these works were carried out in Batam, Indonesia, prior to the mobilization of spreads.
The pin piles were transported on a total of seven voyages by three tug and barge combinations.
The 109.2 MW Changhua Phase 1 project, located off the coast of Fangyuan in Central Western Taiwan, will comprise 21 5.2 MW turbines with a downwind rotor.
The consortium of Jan De Nul and Hitachi is developing the project on behalf of Taiwan Power Company.
Jan De Nul is responsible for the design, fabrication, and installation of the foundations and turbines, supply and installation of the onshore and offshore cables, as well as for the upgrading of the substation.
Hitachi is in charge of manufacturing, assembly, O&M, and other works related to the turbines.
