In total, Welcon will manufacture and deliver 70 bottom sections, 34 middle sections and 34 top sections for the project.

The sections are scheduled to be delivered from the fourth quarter of 2019 until the fourth quarter of 2020.

The Moray East wind farm will feature 100 MHI Vestas 9.5MW turbines installed on jacket foundations at the site some 22 kilometres off the Aberdeenshire coast. The turbines will be transported from the Port of Invergordon and installed at the site by Fred. Olsen Windcarrier. The installation is expected to start in early 2021.

Offshore construction at the site started mid-May with DEME Offshore’s Apollo kicking off piling operations. DEME is the EPCI contractor for the wind farm’s turbine foundations and three offshore substation foundations and is in charge of the transport and installation of the OSS topsides.

The wind farm is scheduled for full commissioning in 2022. The project developer, Moray Offshore Windfarm (East) Ltd, is owned by EDPR, Diamond Green Limited, and Engie.
