In total, Beatrice will comprise 84 wind turbines once fully built. The wind turbines are being commissioned shortly after the installation.

Swire Blue Ocean’s jack-up is loading the turbines in sets of five at the Nigg port, Siemens Gamesa’s pre-assembly base, and installing them at the site 13 kilometres off the Caithness coast.

The commissioning works are carried out using a combination of the walk-to-work vessel Island Crown and crew transfer vessels Fob Swath 3 and Seacat Resolute. The wind farm is expected to be completed this Spring.

BOWL is a joint venture partnership between SSE (40%), Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (35%) and Red Rock Power Limited (25%).
