The topside for the Norther OHVS will leave ENGIE Fabricom’s yard in Hoboken this week to be installed on a monopile foundation.

Van Oord, the Balance of Plant contractor for the project, is in charge of the engineering, procurement, supply and installation of foundations, the OHVS, inter-array and export cables, as well as the installation of the turbines.

The offshore installation vessel Aeolus installed the first of the 45 monopile foundations at the site 23 kilometres off the port of Zeebrugge last week.

The 370MW Norther offshore wind farm will comprise 44 MHI Vestas V164-8.0 MW turbines optimized to be able to deliver a maximum output of 8.4MW.

The OHVS is scheduled to start delivering power to the Belgian grid in September 2019, Norther said.
