Danish Turbines Extra Busy in Windy 2015

Energy generated by wind turbines covered a record-breaking equivalent of 42.1 per cent of Denmark’s electricity needs in 2015, data gathered by Energinet.dk shows.

The last year’s result is a 3 per cent improvement compared to a 39.1 per cent equivalent of Denmark’s needs covered by wind-generated electricity in 2014.

The result could have been even better had the two offshore wind farms – Anholt and Horns Rev 2 – not been out of action for one and two months respectively due to cable failures.

With both wind farms fully operational, the Danish would have had the equivalent of 43.5 per cent of their electricity needs met via wind-generated power, according to Energinet.dk.
