Cadeler Signs Wind Turbine Installation Deal in Poland

PGE Group and Ørsted have awarded Cadeler a contract for the installation of wind turbines at the Baltica 2 offshore wind project in Poland.

The installation of wind turbines for Baltica 2 was divided into two phases, and the contractor for each phase was selected by separate tenders.

In January, the contract for the installation of the first batch of turbines was awarded to Fred. Olsen Windcarrier, the Norwegian offshore construction specialist.

Under the contract, the company will install 48 out of 107 wind turbines using one of its special purpose-built jack-up installation vessels.

The second batch of units will be installed by Cadeler and with this agreement, PGE and Ørsted have finalised the contracts for the installation of the Siemens Gamesa 14 MW wind turbines.

PGE and Ørsted have already contracted all the necessary components for the offshore wind farm, as well as signed contracts for the installation of foundations, turbines, and cables. The partners also picked the general contractor for the onshore connection infrastructure.

The joint venture already obtained all the necessary construction permits. The last step before the construction begins will be the final investment decision (FID).

The project will be developed in the Polish part of the Baltic Sea between Łeba and Ustka while the closest wind turbines to the shore will be at least 25 kilometres.

PGE and Ørsted plan to commission Baltica 2 by the end of 2027.
