According to the project’s latest Notice to Mariners, 78 of the 84 Siemens Gamesa 7MW turbines have so far been commissioned.

Commissioning works are being carried out using a combination of walk-to-work vessel Island Crown and crew transfer vessels Fob Swath 3 and Seacat Resolute.

Pacific Orca was in charge of picking up the turbines in sets of five at the Nigg port, Siemens Gamesa’s pre-assembly base, and installing them at the site 13km off the Caithness coast.

Beatrice delivered first power in July last year, shortly after the jack-up installed the first turbine at the project site. The 588MW offshore wind farm is expected to be completed this spring.
