All Beatrice Turbines Now Standing

Swire Blue Ocean’s jack-up vessel Pacific Orca has installed the last of the total of 84 turbines at the Beatrice offshore wind farm in the UK.

According to the project's latest Notice to Mariners, 78 of the 84 Siemens Gamesa 7MW turbines have so far been commissioned.

Commissioning works are being carried out using a combination of walk-to-work vessel Island Crown and crew transfer vessels Fob Swath 3 and Seacat Resolute.

Pacific Orca was in charge of picking up the turbines in sets of five at the Nigg port, Siemens Gamesa’s pre-assembly base, and installing them at the site 13km off the Caithness coast.

Beatrice delivered first power in July last year, shortly after the jack-up installed the first turbine at the project site. The 588MW offshore wind farm is expected to be completed this spring.
