Ørsted Opens New Round of Walney Extension Skills Fund

Ørsted has launched the third annual round of its Walney Extension Skills Fund, dedicated to coastal areas of Lancashire and Cumbria in the UK.

GBP 50,000 is available to organizations that can develop and deliver Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) related training or education courses, a one-off event, or a program of targeted events.

The full amount may be awarded to one organization or split between a number of groups that apply, while the minimum grant organizations can apply for is GBP 10,000.

According to Ørsted, the closing date for applications is 4 September.

The 659MW Walney Extension project comprises 40 MHI Vestas 8MW turbines and 47 Siemens Gamesa 7MW turbines which were officially inaugurated at the beginning of September last year.

Each year, approximately GBP 600,000 will be made available for skills and community projects for the expected 25-year lifetime of the wind farm.
