Swire Blue Ocean’s Project Manager, Peter Kyhl, said: “A major milestone has been reached. We are halfway on Beatrice! 42 out of 84 turbines have been installed with no injuries to our crew on board the Pacific Orca. SBO endeavours to continue installation on the second half of the project with an equally high focus on safety.”

Swire Blue Ocean’s jack-up Pacific Orca installed the first turbine at the site in the Outer Moray Firth mid-July and the wind farm delivered the first power several days thereafter.

The turbines are loaded in sets of five at the Nigg port, Siemens Gamesa’s pre-assembly base. The commissioning of the turbines is carried out immediately after the installation.

The full commissioning of the wind farm is scheduled for Spring 2019.

Beatrice Offshore Windfarm Limited (BOWL), the developer of the GBP 2.6 billion project, is a joint venture partnership between SSE (40%), Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (35%) and Red Rock Power Limited (25%).
