Esvagt Orders Diesel Electric System for DeBu SOV

Norwegian Electric Systems (NES) has signed a contract with Havyard Design & Solutions for the delivery of a complete diesel electric system to Esvagt’s new HD 831 service operation vessel (SOV).

The delivery includes six 615-990kW generators, two 1000kW main propulsion motors, two 1200kW el-motors for tunnel thrusters, Quadro Drive frequency converters, 690V-440V-230V main switchboard, EMSB 690/230V Transformers, B.O.S.S.® and R.A.S.

Additionally, NES is responsible for engineering and commissioning of the system.

The SOV will be built at Astilleros Zamakona Santurzi shipyard in Spain and should be ready for delivery in August 2019.

Esvagt recently signed two contracts with Havyard Group, the first including the provision of the design and equipment for the construction of the vessel and the second for the delivery of an electrical design and equipment package for the SOV.

In August, MHI Vestas awarded Esvagt with a contract for using the vessel for operations at the 252MW Deutsche Bucht (DeBu) offshore wind farm in the German North Sea.

The 15-year contract is not only the longest in Esvagt’s history, but it is also the largest in terms of value, the Danish company said.
