MHI Vestas PCM Factory Up and Running at Port of Esbjerg

MHI Vestas today (5 October) informed that it officially opened the Power Converter Modules (PCM) factory at the Port of Esbjerg, adding that the assembly of PCMs for its V164 offshore wind turbine has begun.

The hi-tech facility is a dedicated space for the company’s PCM assembly, located close to pre-assembly. MHI Vestas said this will enable the company to draw upon the Port of Esbjerg’s expertise as the leading wind power port in Europe.

Chief Manufacturing Officer, Robert Borin, said: “MHI Vestas is proud to be a major contributor to the development of pre-assembly skillsets and the establishment of competence centres throughout regional Denmark. It’s exciting to see the new facility up and running at the Port of Esbjerg as the next manufacturing phase of the company takes shape.”

This is the latest in a series of manufacturing expansion plans from MHI Vestas, as the company increased production capacity on the Isle of Wight in the UK last fall, and in Nakskov and Lindø earlier this year.
