GMH Nets Another Beatrice Job with Smulders

Seaway Heavy Lifting has awarded Smulders Projects the contract for the engineering, procurement, construction and installation of 28 jacket foundations for the Beatrice wind farm, with the company further contracting Granada Material Handling (GMH) to provide 28 davit cranes for the project.

Smulders joined Bladt, which will build 30 jacket foundations and has also hired GMH for the delivery of cranes, and BiFab, which will fabricate 26 jackets for this project.

The company will start manufacturing foundations later this year in its facilities.

One ‘Python’ crane, provided by GMH, will be fitted to each of the 28 platforms being supplied by Smulders.

The 588MW Beatrice wind farm will comprise 84 Siemens turbines installed in the Outer Moray Firth, off the north coast of Scotland.

Offshore installation activities are scheduled for 2017 and 2018. The wind farm is expected to be commissioned in 2019.
