Five blocks with maximum weight of 800t will be assembled and moved onto the slipways for assembly of 90m long spar units and subsequent launching.

The launching weight of the floating foundations is around 3,200t, including more than 1,000t of high density concrete.

The contract for fabrication of five floating foundations was awarded to the Navantia-Windar joint venture by Statoil’s subsidiary Hywind Scotland Ltd. in June 2015.

The fabrication of the structures is taking place at the Navantia yard located in Fene, Spain, where Navantia-Windar is also constructing 29 jacket foundations for Ibedrola’s Wikinger project.
