Today, U.S. Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell will be in New Jersey to deliver keynote remarks at the American Wind Energy Association’s (AWEA) Offshore WINDPOWER 2014 Conference in Atlantic City.
In the afternoon, Secretary Jewell will tour Cape May National Wildlife Refuge.
As part of President Obama’s Climate Action Plan to create jobs, cut carbon pollution and develop clean domestic energy resources, Secretary Jewell will highlight the Administration’s significant record of advancing offshore wind in public waters. After her remarks, Jewell will hold a media availability on offshore wind with AWEA CEO Tom Kiernan.
In advance of the second anniversary of Hurricane Sandy later this month and as part of her commitment to make local communities more resilient against future storms, Secretary Jewell will tour Cape May National Wildlife Refuge to view ongoing restoration efforts and discuss the economic importance of wildlife refuges to local economies.
