Subsea Cables UK to Hold Its 43rd Plenary

Subsea Cables UK, the trade association for submarine power and telecommunications cables for the United Kingdom and Northern Europe, will hold its 43rd Plenary on 10-11 September 2014.

Subsea Cables UK to Hold Its 43rd Planery

The event will be held at the Essex Golf & Country Club, Colchester, UK, hosted by Zytech Ltd.

Upwards of 60 delegates from Subsea Cables UK membership: submarine cable system owners, maintenance authorities, system manufacturers, cable ship operators, consultants and submarine cable route survey companies from many different countries, will discuss and exchange technical, legal and environmental information affecting the industry.

Confirmed speakers on the agenda include:

  • Julian Head (Prysmian Group) – Overview of CIGRE and Power Cables
  • Lt Peter Davis (HM Navy) – How to deal with ‘unexploded ordnance’
  • Barry Howarth (HVPD) – Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR) Fingerprinting and Fault Location of Subsea Export and Interconnector Cables
  • Rachel McCall (PMSS) – How the consenting process is changing and developing for Interconnectors due to the TEN-E Regulation EU347/2013

Other speakers are Peter Barham – Liaison Officer, Aaron Mair – Fishing Industry Consultant, together with updates from the Chairman and Sub-group Chairmen.

During the afternoon of day 2 there will be an opportunity to participate in a joint workshop to be facilitated by Subsea Cables UK and The Crown Estate, in regards to good industry practice.
