Nass & Wind, Siemens Team Up for French Offshore Wind

The French renewable energy company Nass & Wind is about to finalise its deal with Siemens to join forces on the next French offshore wind tender.

There is a possibility of a third partner in this consortium, however, Nass & Wind did not want to disclose any details concerning the name of the third party in question .

During the first call for tenders, Nass & Wind in coalition with DONG Energy, wpd Offshore and Alstom won three of four sites for the offshore wind development.

For the second phase France will lease the area off Le Tréport (Haute-Normandie), which covers 110 km² and the one between the islands of Yeu and Noirmoutier (Pays de la Loire), which covers 79 km², each expected to generate 480-500MW of power.

The second tender is estimated at around EUR 3.5 billion comparing to the first tender valued to around EUR 7 billion.

The deadline for the submission of applications to the Regulatory Commission of Energy (CRE) has been set for November 29, 2013. The decision is expected to be made in early 2014, while the construction is should start between 2021 and 2023.
