Floating Gyro-Stabilized VAWT to Be Tested in Norway (VIDEO)

A model of a floating gyro stabilized Vertical Axis Wind Turbine (VAWT) for offshore and near-shore applications, which is called Gwind, will be tested in the harbor of Stavanger this autumn, according to the Norwegian Centre for Offshore Wind Energy (NORCOWE).

Belgium: Vroon and MPI Vessels Working on Northwind Project

As construction of the Northwind offshore windfarm continues, a number of Vroon and MPI vessels are employed on this project. The windfarm, situated off Zeebrugge in Belgium, will consist of more than 70 offshore wind turbines, providing 216 MW, enough power for 120,000 households.

Germany: Turbine Installation Starts Soon at Global Tech I

Construction of the Global Tech 1 Wind Farm commenced in September 2012. Its foundation structures are being transported to the construction site from BLG’s offshore terminal at Bremerhaven with the installation vessel INNOVATION. Meanwhile, 51 of the 60 metre high tripods weighing 900 tons each have now been installed there.
