UK: Norstec Hails Offshore Wind Industrial Strategy

UK Norstec Hails Offshore Wind Industrial Strategy

Norstec, the offshore renewables industry alliance for Europe’s northern seas, has welcomed the launch of the UK Government’s Industrial Strategy for Offshore Wind. This is a joint Government/Industry plan to ensure that the UK puts into the place the right measures to secure the future of offshore wind in the UK.

The Industrial Strategy identifies Norstec as playing a leading role in communicating the benefits of offshore renewables across Europe and globally.

Norstec Chairman Julian Brown said: “Today’s publication of the Offshore Wind Industrial Strategy is a welcome step forward in cementing the future development of offshore wind, both in the UK and across Europe. Offshore wind could provide 39 Gigawatts of installed capacity from UK waters alone by 2030, enough to meet the needs of over 26m households. What is happening in the UK is just part of a bigger European picture. This requires effective industry and government cooperation which is why it’s great to see the UK Government backing our important sector. Norstec will be playing its part too in communicating the benefits of offshore wind far and wide and helping offshore wind remain a European success story.”
