Carnegie Orders More Elements for Perth Wave Project

Wave energy developer Carnegie Wave Energy Limited announced that it has placed orders for a further 2 of the 10 key project elements for the Perth Wave Energy Project.

Orders have been placed for the CETO Buoyant Actuators and the CETO Unit Attachment & Foundation Connectors. The supplier of the Buoyant Actuators is Strategic Marine and Subsea Riser Products Ltd (SRP) will supply the CETO Unit Attachment & Foundation Connectors. Both suppliers have been carefully selected after a competitive process and a detailed evaluation of quotations based on cost, quality, reliability, delivery and health and safety.

These two commitments follows last week’s four orders placed for the CETO Unit Pumps, load management system, accumulators and valves representing 6 of the 10 key elements of the Perth Project now in the procurement phase.

CETO Unit Buoyant Actuators

The Buoyant Actuators are predominately manufactured from steel and consist of an internal structural elements covered by an external shell. The internal fit out of the Buoyant Actuator includes the hydraulic load management system, internal ballast tanks and internal fixed buoyancy modules. The Buoyant Actuators are fully instrumented to provide detailed data on its motions and loads in real time.

Strategic Marine is a Western Australian owned shipbuilding and engineering company with an international outlook and a reputation for producing quality, high performance vessels for markets across the globe. Currently the organisation operates facilities in Australia, Singapore, Vietnam and Mexico, collectively employing over 1,000 staff.

CETO Unit Attachment & Foundation Connector

The Foundation Connector is an automatic latching type connector that takes the place of a bolted connection between the base of the CETO Unit and the Foundation. It provides the ability for a quick connect and release of the CETO unit thereby significantly reducing the time taken to install and recover the CETO Unit.

The CETO Unit Attachment provides the articulated connection between the base of the CETO Unit and the Foundation. The configuration of the Attachment is similar to that of a conventional universal joint and is manufactured from carbon steel.

Subsea Riser Products (SRP), based in Surrey in the UK, designs and supplies specialist riser hardware for critical offshore applications. Its range of riser products is developed to offer improved performance, reduced cost, increased reliability and shorter supply schedules. SRP’s capability stems from a heritage of subsea and riser experience which enables practical and cost effective hardware solutions to be identified, developed and manufactured to meet specific applications.
