UK: Ampair Nabs Offshore Wind Met Mast Power Contract for GL Garrad Hassan and Celtic Array

Dorset- based small wind turbine and power system manufacturer Ampair announced that it has won a major contract to supply GL Garrad Hassan with a hybrid renewable energy system and control room for Celtic Arrays potential wind farms in the Irish Sea. The equipment will be manufactured at Ampair’s factory in Dorset.

Ampair’s sales & marketing manager Jeremy Davies says “The contract is for the design and manufacture of the control room and associated hybrid renewable energy system that will power a remote measurement platform in the Irish Sea. The unmanned automatic control room is the nerve centre of the platform that gathers a huge amount of information about wind and wave and other weather data for the wind farm.”

Ampair’s managing director David Sharman says “The large scale UK wind energy market is growing strongly and we are proud to apply our world leading specialist hybrid renewables engineering expertise to support its growth. It is very satisfying to see smaller companies like ours winning tenders in the major offshore wind farm industry for serious professional clients like GL Garrad Hassan and Celtic Array, and by doing so we can continue to grow as a UK manufacturer and employer and continue to invest in our R&D. Our engineering workforce has tripled over the last two years and is this is because of a very sustained commitment to R&D that we have made as a business over a ten year period. More recently we have expanded our Dorset factory to be able to take on these larger contracts.”
