Plans Advance for Maritime Skills Academy Dover, UK

Plans for the Maritime Skills Academy Dover are advancing well since a planning application for the centre has already been submitted and the Viking Recruitment has designated its location at the recently purchased land in Menzies Road.

The Academy will provide courses for officers in the navigation and engineering sectors, people aged 14 to 19 who want to be introduced to the maritime sector as well as training for those who are already in the industry or looking to join.

Among variety of courses, students will have the chance to learn about working in sectors such as offshore wind farms, This is Kent news portal informs.

The facility will comprise a conference centre, workshops, offices, classrooms, a restaurant and a high-tech pool, similar to that used by the RNLI, with wave tanks, black-out capability and storm simulation.

This maritime training and conference centre in Whitfield is worth GBP 6.5 million and it will create around 40 working positions, providing marine industry skills for 2,000 students a year.
