RWE Seeks German Government’s Compensation for Grid Connection Delays

Incoming Chief Executive of RWE, Peter Terium, said that substantial delays in Nordsee Ost offshore wind farm connection to the grid jeopardize the project’s profitability.

Mr. Terium told the weekly magazine Der Spiegel that RWE is inviting the German Government to discuss possible compensation adding that the Government should initiate compensation talks with the project’s investors so as to find solutions for the existing problems, the Dow Jones news site says.

If not, the country will face trouble in achieving 2020 plans for offshore wind power production, which is a crucial part of the energy revolution through 2050.
