Norway: Statkraft Elects New Chair of Board

The enterprise general meeting in Statkraft SF has today elected Olav Fjell as the new chair of the board of Statkraft SF. The general meeting in Statkraft AS has then elected Olav Fjell as the new chair of the board of Statkraft AS. The board of Statkraft AS is identical with the board of Statkraft SF.

Olav Fjell (born 1951) has extensive and broad executive experience, both as CEO and through important directorships in Norwegian businesses.

Olav Fjell is currently the outgoing CEO of Hurtigruten, a position he has held since 2007. He was CEO of Statoil from 1999-2003 and has also been the CEO of Postbanken and Lindorff. He has also been part of the senior management teams at Kongsberg Våpenfabrikk and DNB. Olav Fjell has held several prominent board positions, including seats on the boards of NSB and Statkraft.

“I am familiar with Statkraft and look forward to get to know both the company and organisation better. Statkraft is one of Norway’s most important and exciting companies and Europe’s leader in renewable energy,” says Olav Fjell.

Olav Fjell will take over as chair of Statkraft, replacing Svein Aaser effective today. The other directors were re-elected.
