UK: E.ON Launches Rampion Offshore Wind Farm Consultations

As the Sussex Express writes, consultation period of eight weeks for the Rampion Offshore Wind Farm has kicked off on Wednesday.

The new consultations contain more detailed environmental information about the project.

Namely, the E.ON is planning to construct the wind farm 13-23 km off the Sussex coast with a total capacity of up to 700 MW.

The wind turbine will contain between 100 to 195 wind turbines depending on their capacity, and it will be able to power 450,000 homes.

Last 12 exhibitions were attended by 4,500 visitors with 1,500 submitted responses.

Due to the growing interest, E.ON organised eight weeks of additional consultation period.

Chris Tomlinson, E.ON development manager for the project, said:

“The people of Sussex have a real thirst for knowledge about the Rampion project and we’ve been so impressed by the level of interest that we want to factor in even more time for those who wish to consider the proposals in greater detail now that the draft Environmental Statement is available. This is the largest consultation E.ON has ever undertaken in the UK. Having doubled this additional consultation to eight weeks to allow more detailed discussions with the public and stakeholder groups, this brings the total period of consultation to 20 weeks with the community and wider public consultation combined.”
