UK: Redcar MP Discusses Dogger Bank Project with Forewind

Ian Swales MP met with Forewind, the company behind the Dogger Bank wind farm, to discuss how the project will affect the local area.

The wind farm will be over 80 miles off the coast of Teesside and will therefore not directly affect residents. The plan is to bring a cable ashore underground and construct substations to convert the power to join the National Grid.

This supports the new wave of renewable energy industry in the local area, helping to boost the local economy and secure local jobs for the people of Teesside.

Commenting, Ian Swales MP said:

‘I was pleased with the assurances Forewind gave me about their respect for the local area and for residents. They are obviously thinking carefully about the location of where they bring the cable ashore and where they build the substations.

‘I confirmed that rumours regarding the Headlands in Marske are completely false; the possible locations are not in built up areas.

‘I will continue to monitor this project and speak to the company in order to ensure that nobody is adversely affected by this exciting development. I hope residents will also take part in the forthcoming consultation process.’
