France: EDF, Alstom Win Tenders for 3 Offshore Wind Sites
EDF, together with Alstom, won three of five sites at the tender announced by the French Government for offshore wind farm projects, French daily Le Figaro reported Thursday.
The 6 MW wind turbines, whose prototype Alstom presented last week, will be assembled in Saint-Nazaire (Loire-Atlantique), Courseulles-sur-Mer (Calvados) and Fecamp (Seine-Maritime).
The fourth wind farm, to be located at Saint-Brieuc, has been awarded to Spanish Iberdrola, in partnership with French Areva.
The remaining tender for the fifth site at Tréport that received only one bid from GDF Suez consortium with the German Siemens was cancelled.
The applications for the tender have been reviewed by the Regulatory Commission (CRE) based on the following criteria: 40% related to the price of buying electricity, 40% related to the quality of industrial and social project while the remaining 20% was assigned based on the environmental effects of the undertaking to the sea.
Thursday afternoon, the CRE completed the evaluation of the proposal of the French Government, which is expected to publish official results of the tender today.
