Poland Receives Over 50 Offshore Wind Applications

The Ministry of Transport has already received 54 applications for the development of the wind power projects off Baltic coast. Initial procedures for the licenses have already been resolved. All are to be carried out by mid-year.

“We received 54 license applications for the offshore wind farm location. Just today, seven of them were received“, Magdalena Jabłonowska from the Ministry of Transport, Building and Shipping announced during the ongoing conference “Investments in the offshore wind farms”.

MTBiGM plans to finish the application acceptance procedure by the end of the month.

The Ministry will seek to examine all applications before the end of July. Some of them involve the same areas of maritime exclusive economic zone where installation can occur. In such cases, MTBiGM must decide who will be able to build in that area.

The total proposed offshore wind capacity is 3400 MW.
