ScottishPower Appoints Keith Anderson as Chief Corporate Officer

ScottishPower today announces the appointment of Keith Anderson as Chief Corporate Officer.

The appointment follows an extensive internal and external recruitment process which fully considered a number of strong candidates.

Keith takes on this role which is based in Glasgow, whilst retaining his position as CEO of ScottishPower Renewables.

He will drive and champion Iberdrola in the UK, which has as one of its main objectives, the delivery of the Company’s £15 billion investment strategy in the context of the evolving UK market – as set out in last week’s Electricity Market Review White Paper. Keith will be supported by the operational businesses within ScottishPower to maximise business and investment opportunities in the country and drive UK interests within the Iberdrola Group.

In his new role, Keith will represent the Company’s interests with key stakeholders including, Government and regulatory bodies, customers, media and employees.

ScottishPower Chairman Ignacio Galan said “We are delighted to appoint Keith as Chief Corporate Officer. He has done an outstanding job at ScottishPower Renewables and his experience of developing it to the leading wind power generator in the UK, will prove invaluable. We now have a very strong senior management team leading ScottishPower.”

“It’s clear the UK needs major investments to upgrade its energy generation and meet the Government’s ambitious clean energy targets. We are ready to spend £15bn up to 2020 on a number of major energy projects and are working with the authorities to achieve a workable regulatory framework to give the necessary stability and predictability to support these investments.”

Keith joined ScottishPower in 1999 and has worked in a variety of roles including Head of Internal Audit and UK Strategy Director. Since being appointed as the first CEO of ScottishPower Renewables in 2004, he has led the newly formed business division in the delivery of a £1billion renewable investment programme, developing a market leading 1000MW of onshore wind generation – enough clean green energy to power 600,000 homes. This included the construction of Whitelee, Europe’s largest windfarm near Glasgow.

Keith is also responsible for Iberdrola’s international offshore business based in Glasgow, overseeing major wind development projects in the UK, France and Germany. A qualified accountant and MBA, he lives in Glasgow and is married with four children.

Commenting on his new appointment, Keith Anderson said “This is a tremendous opportunity to represent Iberdrola’s UK businesses at a crucial time for the UK energy industry. Key to this will be developing the right regulatory and legislative frameworks that will allow us to deliver the investments that will build a cleaner energy future that will protect customers from volatile wholesale markets”.

Since the integration with ScottishPower in April 2007, Iberdrola has invested £3.5 billion in the UK with 75% of this investment in Scotland. Between 2010 and 2012, Iberdrola’s UK investment will be over £3billion in projects associated with the reinforcement and expansion of the Company’s networks infrastructure and increasing its onshore and offshore renewable capacity.
