The company has been hired on the 496 MW Iles d’Yeu et de Noirmoutier and the 496 MW Dieppe-Le Tréport, on which offshore construction activities are scheduled to start this year.

Both offshore wind farms are being developed by the joint venture between Ocean Winds, Sumitomo Corporation, Banque des Territoires, and Vendée Energie (for the Iles d’Yeu et de Noirmoutier wind farm).

Under the contracts, ABL will review and approve the load-out, marine transportation, and installation operations for the components of the substation, foundations, inter-array cables and wind turbine generators. The company will also inspect and approve the marine spread that will be used during the construction.

“This follows our past project wins on the three offshore windfarm projects of Round 1 – respectively Saint-Nazaire OWF, Fécamp OWF and Courseulles OWF – in France. It reaffirms ABL’s recognised reputation as a leading provider of MWS services in France, and more widely for the whole offshore wind industry”, said Fabien Thomas, Head of Marine Warranty services at ABL France.

The 496 MW Iles d’Yeu et de Noirmoutier offshore wind farm will be built at an offshore site located 11.6 kilometres from the island of Yeu and 16.5 kilometres from Noirmoutier. The project will feature 62 Siemens Gamesa 8 MW wind turbines, installed on monopile foundations, and is planned to be commissioned by 2025.

The Dieppe le Tréport offshore wind farm will also comprise 62 Siemens Gamesa 8 MW wind turbines but, unlike the Iles d’Yeu et de Noirmoutier project, these will be mounted on jacket foundations. The Dieppe le Tréport site is located 15.5 kilometres offshore Tréport and 17 kilometres offshore Dieppe.
