Earlier this year, Orient Cables secured a contract to deliver and install the 35kV inter-array and the 220kV export cable at the 400MW Yangjiang Shapa Phase 2 wind farm.

China Three Gorges has since selected Orient Cable to deliver the 35kV inter-array and the 220kV export cables for the 400MW Yangjiang Shapa Phase 3, the 300MW Yangjiang Shapa Phase 4, and the 300MW Yangjiang Shapa Phase 5.

Orient Cable plans to manufacture the cables in phases throughout 2020 and 2021.

The 1,700MW Yangjiang Shapa project is divided into five phases. The phases two to five entered construction simultaneously in late-February, making this the largest offshore wind farm ever to enter construction in China.

The 300MW Yangjiang Shapa Phase 1 delivered first power at the end of November 2019. Orient Cable was the EPCI contractor for the export cable at the Phase 1 wind farm.
