EDS HV Wraps Up Horns Rev 3 Consultancy Work

EDS HV Group has completed high voltage consultancy work at Vattenfall’s Horns Rev 3 offshore wind farm in Denmark.

EDS carried out the work during the installation phase of what is Denmark’s largest offshore wind farm under a contract secured in 2018.

The UK company provided pre-site engineering support, HV system reviews, consultancy support, and the provision and implementation of HV safety rules from the 33kV switchgear on the offshore substation to the arrays and turbines.

In addition, EDS was involved in training Vattenfall’s O&M team, with a number of technicians passing panels to become Senior Authorised Persons (SAPs).

“The whole EDS team has enjoyed working with Vattenfall on this landmark project. It has been a fantastic opportunity, and the successful completion of our scope has been a credit to our team on the project and all involved,” said David Orr, Operations Manager at EDS HV.

“We would like to thank Vattenfall for their continued support throughout the project and look forward to working with them in the future.”

Horns Rev 3 comprises 49 MHI Vestas 8.3MW turbines located 25 to 40km off the west coast of Jutland. The 406.7MW offshore wind farm was officially inaugurated in August 2019.
