Jack-up vessel Seajacks Scylla is on her way to the Deutsche Bucht offshore wind farm carrying the first of the two mono bucket foundations to be installed in the German North Sea.
Seajacks Scylla loaded the first mono bucket at Bladt Industries’ facility in Lindø, Denmark, Northland Power said. The vessel is also carrying the turbine components which will be installed on the foundation.

Located some 95 kilometres northwest of the Borkum Island, the 269MW Deutsche Bucht comprises 33 MHI Vestas 8.4MW turbines.
Van Oord, MHI Vestas, and partners began the installation of the 31 turbines on monopile foundations in June. The wind farm delivered first power to the German grid at the end of July.

The 31 wind turbines installed on monopile foundations were commissioned at the end of September.
All 33 turbines are expected to be operational by the end of 2019, as per schedule. Deutsche Bucht is the first commercial offshore wind farm to feature mono bucket foundations.
