South Korea’s Jeju Hanlim Offshore Wind Co. has selected Dutch engineering consultancy Pondera and Korean engineering company Hanmi Global to provide owner’s engineering services for the Jeju Hanlim offshore wind project.

The Jeju Hanlim project is the third offshore wind project in the Korean waters and the second one on a commercial scale.

It is located near the Tamra offshore wind farm just off the coast of the Jeju Island. The project’s capacity is approximately 100MW.

A consortium led by Korea’s KEPCO E&C, which also includes KOMIPO, DAELIM, and BARAM, has been developing the project since 2011.

Pondera’s CEO Hans Rijntalder said that the contract is ”a major breakthrough” for the company ”after being present in Korea for some years now”.

Hanmi Global’s CEO Jong Hoon Kim said: “We have a lot of experience with project realisation and construction management, but our knowledge of offshore wind projects is still limited. Therefore, we are happy to join forces with Pondera.”
