73 of the turbines installed in the Outer Moray Firth were commissioned, Beatrice Offshore Windfarm Limited (BOWL), owner and developer of the 588MW wind farm, said.

Pacific Orca is loading the turbines in sets of five at the Nigg port, Siemens Gamesa’s pre-assembly base, and installing them at the site 13 kilometres off the Caithness coast.

The commissioning works are carried out using a combination of the walk-to-work vessel Island Crown and crew transfer vessels Fob Swath 3 and Seacat Resolute. The wind farm is expected to be completed this Spring.

BOWL is a joint venture partnership between SSE (40%), Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (35%) and Red Rock Power Limited (25%).
