Senvion Previews Italy’s First Offshore Wind Farm

Senvion has shared a video showing the Beleolico project in Italy, the first offshore wind farm in the Mediterranean Sea.

The German wind turbine manufacturer concluded the contract to provide ten of its 3.0M122 turbines for the 30MW project at the beginning of March.

The units will be installed in front of Taranto harbor in the Apulia region, Southern Italy, on monopile foundations in water depths ranging from 3 to 18m.

Senvion said it had adapted the 3.0M122 turbines to the challenging offshore environment and developed a customized installation procedure suitable for the nearshore wind farm.

The final investment decision for the Beleolico wind farm was reached in February. Project installation and commissioning is expected to place in the second half of the year.
